Problem Note 40556: Using the Generate Indexes on the Target Tables transformation option can cause unexpected results
Beginning with SAS® Data Integration Studio 4.2, the Generate Indexes on Target Tables option was added to the Options tab under Properties for all data transformations, except loader transformations. The following issues have surfaced with the introduction of this option:
- During the upgrade process, the Generate Indexes on Target Tables is set to Yes by default for transformations in migrated or imported jobs.
This can result in unexpected changes in job behavior and performance as a result of the introduction of index creation code. When upgrading jobs from prior releases of SAS Data Integration Studio, the default for this option should be No. The work around is to set the option to No in transformations where unwanted index creation is occurring.
- Integrity constraint creation is included when the Generate Indexes on Target Tables option is set to Yes.
Only indexes should be created when this option is set to Yes. The work around is to either remove all integrity constraints from the target table, or set the Generate Indexes on Target Tables to No.
